My name is Desderia Michael Mangaya, a farmer and village executive officer in Nambeleketela. One of the challenges we faced as farmers was delayed payments when selling cashew nuts at auctions. You would take your cashews to be sold at the auction, but then you had to wait a long time to receive payment. However, doing business with Mama Cashew has been different because here we receive prompt and timely payments.
Personally, I see a significant difference between selling to Mama Cashew and selling at auctions. When selling to Mama Cashew, we receive an additional amount as a bonus per kilogram, which we don't get at auctions. This extra amount will benefit me in furthering my children's education, preparing my farm for the next season, and supporting other social development projects.
The portion that goes back to AMCOSS will help in developing the cooperative's farm and fulfilling various cooperative activities. The relationship with Mama Cashew is excellent; they care about the well-being of farmers and provide education on the proper use of pesticides to protect farmers' health and consumers'.
As a village executive officer in Nambeleketela, Ziwani Ward, we view the government's support positively because it benefits farmers and contributes to their development. When Mama Cashew empowers farmers, it makes governance easier because farmers have a reliable market and good income.
Join hands with us to promote sustainable cashews across the world!
