Warehouse Manager

My name is Josiah Jeremia, I was born in Mwanza, and I have a family with one child who is currently attending nursery school. Before working at Mama Cashew, I used to do odd jobs. One day, I was called to her house to do garden cleaning, and during that time, we were in Moshi. Suddenly, she asked me if I could work outside the region, I sadi yes and she made all the necessary arrangements for me to come to work in Mtwara. We started the first season, which went well, and I began as a supervisor. Later on, the company continued to trust me and offered me the position of warehouse manager and storekeeper of the factory.

One thing I love about this company is the solidarity. Whenever I face a challenge, the office stands by me. The bosses communicate well with us, and I appreciate that. The benefits I've gained from working at Mama Cashew are significant. In just the first season, I was able to buy land and in the second season, I bought a plot for building my residence and for my family in Mwanza. After acquiring the land and plot, I ventured into irrigation farming while still working. I am far from the farm, which requires me to monitor its progress remotely by communicating with the farm supervisor. The progress has been good, and I have managed to acquire irrigation machinery.

In this third season, I've got myself a motorcycle, and also started another business here in Mtwara selling food and drinks. I really like the management of our company because whenever I face difficulties, I can approach the management and request a loan or salary advance to address my challenges at that time. In my three years here, I have reached a significant milestone. As I continue to work at Mama Cashew, I believe I will gain the capacity to venture into even bigger businesses and achieve more success. Mama Cashew has played a significant role in helping me achieve my business goals, and what I have accomplished in these few seasons is remarkable. The company has contributed immensely to my business aspirations, and my growth in general.

During the holiday seasons the company incurs the cost of transporting some of the workers who live outside Mtwara to our homes. Additionally, we continue to receive our salaries as usual upon returning to work, and there has never been a situation where the company has halted salary payments. Moreover, there are celebrations to appreciate each other's efforts, such as the International Women's Day celebration where the company's leadership recognized the hard work of women in the factory. It's quite exceptional for a factory to have opening and closing season celebrations, something that has never happened in other factories. We live among people who work in other factories, and they often express how unique it is to see our factory having celebrations at the beginning and end of each season.

We are grateful for Mama Cashew's presence, and we have immense faith in the company. Therefore, I hope the company continues to believe in us, and we are hopeful that the company will go even further as we increase our cooperation. When we started, we weren't here, and now we've achieved so much.

In the Mtwara community, Mama Cashew has had great collaboration with the government and the community members. If there's a social cause that requires contribution, the company provides assistance and sponsorship for various community initiatives.
